It is now somewhat overgrown, but still a nice place to explore while boating or canoeing. >> Palmetto Dunes has a bike path that runs under the highway from Shelter Cove to the main PD resort. This is a great safety feature, as no one likes crossing a busy intersection on foot or on bike. Just follow the bike path on the exit side of PD and it leads you right under highway 278. >> The Palmetto Dunes Club, located just inside the Inverness gate, across from the Fazio Club House, will extend a FREE trial membership to any PD property owner that may have an interest in joining. The club serves delicious lunches daily, hosts many golf outings and tournaments throughout the year, and throws social events that are great for meeting new people. The club has a beautiful setting and is surrounded by the big lagoon, so it is a great place to use for parties and receptions. >> The lagoon system in Palmetto Dunes is unique to all of the world. It is made up of 11 miles of interconnecting lagoons and waterways that wind throughout PD, making it the largest of its kind. The lagoons are fed from Broad Creek through manual flood gates. Sea life thrive in these waters, so don’t be surprised if you see your neighbor pull up a crab pot full of shrimp and blue crabs. The waterways and lagoons are also teeming with fish and many types of birds. Boating the 11 mile lagoon system is a great way to enjoy the natural beauty we are so lucky to be surrounded by everyday. But, remember, if you plan on investing in a boat, make sure it has an electric engine. No gas powered watercraft are allowed in our pristine lagoon system. FISHING ANYONE! DEVELOPER: Greenwood
